Frequently Asked Questions

Q: It's my first time- How does paintball work?
A: Perfect, CAPP is the best place to start! The basic game format is two teams, total elimination. This means the ref splits you into 2 even teams which start on opposite sides of the playing field. Once the ref starts the game your objective is to shoot each player on the opposite team out- once shot= elimination from that game. Once shot, players will exit the playing field until the next game (this is the ideal time to grab a drink or refill on ammo and air). There are also many other game formats we can run- after a few games, once you're comfortable with the rules, feel free to ask your ref about those other options!
Q: What should we wear?

A: Our paint is water based and will wash out first run in the wash, no matter what you wear, guaranteed. We generally recommend dressing more for the weather than the game- Remember, paintball can be very physical and long sleeves and jeans aren’t the best idea on a hot, humid Alabama day.
Q: Does paintball hurt?
A: The honest truth is- Nothing hitting you traveling 250 miles per hour is going to feel good. However, the standard issue at CAPP is .50 Caliber “Low-Impact” ammo. These rounds are about 2/3 the size and weight of a standard paintball (.68 Caliber). Because of this, even though they travel at the same speed, the impact is much less painful. .50 Caliber ammo maintains the same range (roughly 200 feet) and accuracy as a standard paintball, but due to the lesser pain it is obviously much more friendly for any player.
Q: What is your minimum age?
A: Our overall minimum age is 6 years old, though any parents of young children should make sure they can handle the equipment (roughly 6 lbs fully loaded), but parents need to make sure kids are mature enough to follow all safety guidelines at all times. Our standard issue equipment uses .50 Caliber “Low-Impact” paintballs (as mentioned above) and we find that pain isn’t a problem for the young ones, especially when they have a parent of sibling out playing with them.  Don’t Forget, all our guests, regardless of age, must Sign A Waiver.
Q: How safe is Paintball?
A: More safe than the car ride out!  There are less than a dozen paintball related injuries a year world wide (on average)- as long as common sense is exercised all shooters, targets, and spectators are perfectly safe! Participants will be given a safety briefing upon arrival and are under referee supervision at all times. Our fields are set up perfectly for spectators with bleachers and benches in the main alley and see-through netting on all sides of the fields.
Q: Who do we play against?
A: When you walk in without a reservation, either as a solo player or with a group, you will be included in the Open Play group, which is comprised of all Walk-In players. If you wish to only play with your group, we offer private group play with 48 hours notice. Teams are divided based on skill level and advanced players in the open play group are treated appropriately when choosing teams.
Q: Do you I need a reservation?
A: We require a 48 hour notice on any private party and recommend one for all other groups. This can be made online by clicking the link on the home page. Any sized group is welcome to walk in for open play during regular business hours, though without reservations there is no guarantee that equipment will be available, so we recommend that any guests book a reservation as soon as they decide they are coming. Our booking system allows reservations based on available equipment, so reserving ahead of time guarantees that you will be able to play without a wait.

Q: Do you allow outside equipment?
A: CAPP is restricted to .50 caliber paintballs unless otherwise arranged, meaning personal guns can not be used. Call if you would like to inquire about making other arrangements.
Q: Can we bring our own ammo?
A: At Central Alabama Paintball Park we carry and allow only our special paint. These paintballs are 100% biodegradable, guaranteed not to stain, and breaks at a rate higher than most paintballs. No outside paintballs are allowed at CAPP.
Q: Do you have a place for refreshments if I bring a party?
A: Private party packages include full use of of our indoor party room throughout your reservation (extra time can be added, based on availability- call for details) and full use of our grill. Additionally, there are picnic tables throughout the facility outside that customers are welcome to utilize- call us if you'd like to arrange a tent to use!
Q: Do you provide food or do we need to bring our own?
A: Many local businesses gladly cater to our facility, including Buck Creek Pizza (205-624-2242), Lazy-Boy BBQ (205-624-2474), Chubbfathers (205-685-0590) and many others!
