It can sting a little, similar to being snapped by a rubber band, but the sensation is usually brief. Wearing layers and the provided protective gear (mask and optional chest protector) will help reduce the impact. Most players quickly forget about the sting once they’re caught up in the fun, especially with Low-Impact paintballs!
We always recommend dressing appropriately for the weather, rather than the paintballs. Wear comfortable clothes that cover as much as you comfortably can, and sturdy CLOSED TOE shoes (like sneakers or boots). You can bring extra layers or gloves for added protection. We provide masks, chest protectors, and other safety gear to ensure you’re well-protected.
Yes, paintball is very safe when the rules are followed. At Alabama Paintball, we ensure all players are briefed on safety guidelines, and protective gear is required at all times on the field. Our referees are always monitoring games to make sure everyone plays responsibly.
Paintball markers use compressed air or, in some (increasingly rare) cases, CO2, to fire paintballs. When you pull the trigger, the gas propels the paintball out of the barrel. Our staff will give you a quick lesson on how to safely load, aim, and fire your marker before the game starts, so no need to worry if you're new to it!
Not at all- Most of our players are first-timers! Paintball is about teamwork, strategy, and communication, so beginners can still have a great time and be competitive. Our team of Safety Host's will always
Most paintballs are made from biodegradable, water-soluble materials that wash out of clothing easily. However, we still recommend wearing old clothes because in some cases, especially with lighter fabrics, faint stains might remain after washing.
Each game typically lasts between 3 and 10 minutes, depending on the game mode and the number of players on the playing field. The entire experience, including safety briefings and breaks, usually lasts around 2 hours.
This varies depending on your playing style. An average player might use 50-100 paintballs in a game and roughly 500 per 2 hour session. More aggressive players tend to go through more, while others who are more conservative or focused on strategy may need fewer. You can always purchase more during the session if needed!
In most game modes, when a paintball hits you and breaks, you’re considered “out” and must leave the field *temporarily* until the next game. However, some variations allow for respawns or different rules. Our Safety Hosts will explain the specific rules before each game starts.
At Alabama Paintball Quest you're welcome to bring your own gear, but it must meet our safety standards. For markers, they must be checked by our staff to ensure they operate within safe limits. We’ll also verify that your mask and other equipment provide the required protection. If you don't have your own gear, don’t worry—we have everything you need to rent.
At Central Alabama Paintball we provide a Low-Impact Paintball experience by default, so we do not allow outside markers or loaders to be used (as they are not compatible with .50 Caliber "Low-Impact" Paintballs). We do, however, host Standard Paintball groups in Private settings! So, if you're looking to enjoy the playing fields at this amazing facility with your own equipment, make sure you ask about setting up a .68 Caliber Private Group!
Feel free to ask any other questions or concerns you have—we’re here to make sure your first paintball experience is a blast!
